Emma Ayliffe

Emma Ayliffe

Non-Executive Director

Emma Ayliffe is an agronomist specialising in cotton, who prides herself on analysing the science behind crop production and making this applicable to growers. She co-owns and manages two businesses including Summit Ag Agricultural Consulting where she is a consultant and director as well as a farming enterprise at Lake Cargelligo, in NSW’s central west. Emma’s work has seen her named the 2021 Australian Young Farmer of the Year.

She is passionate about pushing the limits and finding the adjunct between the sciences and the implementation is all facets of her roles. Emma demonstrates this through the range of volunteer and leadership roles that she plays in the wider ag industry as well as her local community.

“I see my role is to empower farmers to manage risk and reach their potential,” says Emma.

“I also enjoy my role as an advocate for agriculture as a whole, whether this be through the local Cotton Growers Association, the Grains Research and Development Corporation Advisory Panel, helping at a field day, or through being part of the team and the voice that represents agriculture.”

Carving out a successful agricultural career with her own agronomy business, Emma is grateful and appreciative of the direction and opportunities given to her by others and wants to give this same support and guidance to the next generation.

“Youth are the future and it is up to us to shape how we want our industries and our world to look,” says Emma.

“It is important for us to forge the way for the generations after us, to collaborate with young and old, to bring fresh ideas and perspective and, ultimately, to speak up and represent the people around us.”
